New Designers 2013
Attending New Designers 2013 was the result of lots of hard work and planning, as our college couldn't fund or organise the show for us this year. I took the role of Head of Committee within my student year to curate our stand and put the promotion and communication which was needed to get us there, into place. Myself and 9 other students decided to band together and raised money which secured our stand, as we knew it was far too important and exciting to miss. We wanted to have an interactive space so decided to invite people to answer the question "what inspires you?". Each day hundreds of visitors wrote on our table and shared their inspiration, just as we had with our answers being displayed, running down the side of our wall space. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the show, which gave us opportunity to meet press, industry officials and fellow designers from all over the country. My work was very well received and a lot of great contacts were made!
Have a look at the photos and see our progress....
Waiting for the van so we can unload our work and get cracking on our lovely big stand!
Over 3000 students all focused on the same thing - setting up!
Up goes my name and excitement builds.
Lawrence Newman is way ahead of the rest of us, setting up with his beautiful ceramics and contemporary tiles.
Communication and planning is essential.
My murmuration installation going up for the final time!
Finally done and I can focus on networking.
Our table invited people to answer what inspires them. Pens were provided so the public could write down their answers on the board.
